How are you feeling right now?
Yes, right now. The last few days? The last few weeks and months? Are you full of energy, ready to tackle the day? Or rather tired and exhausted?
Have you been thinking about changing a few things in your life, to spend more time on yourself? To finally integrate more exercise into your day? Or to finally pay more attention to what you are eating – less of the junk, more of the good, nutritious stuff? So, how far have you gotten with your plans?
I fully understand what it feels like …
I know what it’s like to treat yourself to these extra 15 minutes of sleep and just grab a cup of coffee on the way out, instead of taking the time to enjoy a filling and energizing breakfast.
I know what a chaotic day looks like, not exactly knowing what to eat, either because the food in the cafeteria is absolutely inedible or because you simply do not know what you could take with you that tastes good even after a few hours in a plastic dish.
I know what it’s like to spend a full day on the job, rush to school to pick up the kids, drive home with the intention of spending quality time with the kids, attending to the household and preparing a healthy and tasty meal. So much for the plan. In reality, you take a quick look into the fridge to happily discover the butter and ham to serve with a few slices of bread. Et voilá, and everyone is content. But is it healthy and nutritious? Dark rye bread, butter and some lean ham, that’s certainly healthy. Or is it not?
What exactly is healthy food?
If you ask five people you get five different opinions. Everyone nowadays seems to know what diet and form of nutrition is the best for you.
Vegan, Vegetarian, Raw Food, Paleo, Primal, AIP, Keto, Gluten Free, et cetera, et cetera. How are you supposed to know what is actually good for you?
Give a man a fish,
and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish,
and you feed him for a lifetime.
